'Mockingjay Part 1' Worldwide Trailer Debuts

Hope truly IS stronger than fear. The long-awaited Mockingjay Part 1 theatrical trailer finally debuted today at TheHungerGamesExclusive.com.

Though the trailer is shorter than the average theatrical trailer, it still packed an epic emotional punch, showing us more of our beloved Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, and her transition from survivor to reluctant leader of Panem's rebellion.

And Everlark lovers REJOICE! We got a hearbreaking peek at Peeta Mellark in the Capitol and Katniss' first look at him. "You're alive."

The new trailer deftly illustrates what Francis Lawrence has been saying about the narrative of Part 1: “With Mockingjay – Part I it’s tricky because Peeta is out of reach for her. Obviously he becomes an objective for her, but Gale is right there, so that’s always a tricky situation. Those objectives became the motives for us."

"Miss Everdeen, it's the things we love most that destroy us." will be haunting us forever.

Tickets for Mockingjay Part 1 go on sale October 29th!

TNT Secures Television Rights to 'The Hunger Games' Franchise

TNT recently secured the television rights to The Hunger Games and Divergent movie franchises in a deal with Lionsgate. Confused? Me too. We announced recently that ABC Family was to air The Hunger Games on network TV this October and had also secured the rights to air Catching Fire
The new deal with TNT gives them the right to air the movies after ABC Family's window. The Hunger Games will air on TNT in winter 2015, with Catching Fire following in winter 2016, Mockingjay Part 1 airing in 2017, and Part 2 in 2018.

The deal also includes network premiere windows for Divergent and sequel Insurgent, which hits theaters in March 2015, plus two additional follow-up films.

This deal comes into effect after the pay TV window for both franchises and ABC Family's airings. EPIX has first-run pay TV rights to The Hunger Games franchise, with the first film and Catching Fire currently available through Epix's cable channel, On Demand service, website and apps. HBO has first-run pay TV rights for the Divergent franchise.

So, basically, The Hunger Games franchise is popular enought that networks are buying and re-buying the rights to the franchise and it will be on television forever.

The Hunger Games airs on ABC Family October 10th, 11th and 12th at 8pm ET/PT.

The Rebels Strike Again! Beetee Hacks TheCapitol.PN & Tomorrow We Will Rise

Beetee has been a very busy rebel this week. Yesterday, The Hunger Games social media accounts were taken over by the rebels and today they've hacked TheCapitol.PN

This message went out over The Hunger Games social media today:

It’s time we break apart the fist, grain, & shield. Find them & commence the “hunt-&-peck.”

-B

When you head over to TheCapitol.PN's One Panem page and navigate to one of the symbols (Triumph, etc. press the diamond shaped button at the bottom under the words "One Panem") you can activate Beetee's message by typing in OLTM, Mockingjay, Katniss, Coin or Beetee. Alternatively, you can press the following keys for the reveal:

Click for full size.

The most important part of the message? Today we assemble. Tomorrow we will rise.

WHAT is happening tomorrow, Wednesday, August 6th????

STAY TUNED!

Thanks to our friends at QuarterQuell.org and our follower @TheguyfromTV for decoding Beetee's message.

Inside The 'Mockingjay' Capitol Gallery Samsung Experience at Comic Con

Mockingjay Part 1 may not have had a Hall H panel at Comic-Con this year but they certainly had a presence. The Mockingjay Part 1 "Capitol Gallery" inside the Hard Rock Hotel outside San Diego Comic Con is unbelievable, immersive experience with multiple stations to explore. And plenty of free swag to obtain. We got a much closer look at the exhibit today.

You can snap a photo with one of the many peacekeepers stationed around the exhibit, or with Peeta and Johanna while perched in President Snow's throne.

You can also grab a bite at Peeta's Bakery and a pressed juice at Haymitch's Elixirs.

There is a station to make a shirt, tank or bag with a district on it (very popular, long lines), and the Gallery of Heroes, featuring the District Heroes posters. Eight stations in all and a LOT of cool (free!) stuff to take home!

'Mockingjay Part 1' at Comic Con - A Look at the Lionsgate Booth

Those nutty peacekeepers!

We spent a little more time at the Lionsgate booth today at San Diego Comic Con. Mockingjay is definitely the big presence at the booth, along with The Expendables and Divergent. The guys playing the peacekeepers are clearly having a blast, posing for pictures and pretty much doing anything you ask them to do. And the costumes are badass.

An apple a day keeps the Rebellion away?

You can also check out the Hall of Heroes and see holograms of Peeta Mellark and Johanna Mason rotating in the window.

The Mockingjay Lives - Rebels Hack The Capitol

There's always a flaw in the system. Beetee is at it again! Yesterday, TheCapitol.PN tweeted a very cryptic message that was quickly deleted:

The letters at the end of the tweet are the notes in Rue's Whistle!

When you head over to TheCapitol.PN and right click to inspect element (or view page source) the following message is embeded into the code:

What will Beetee hack next, tributes? The rebellion is coming. The Mockingjay lives!

Peeta, Johanna, BEETEE! 'Mockingjay Part 1' Second Teaser Trailer: THE MOCKINGJAY LIVES!

The second teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, "Unity" is out today! The Capitol propaganda campaign continues, this time with a surprising appearance from Jena Malone as Johanna Mason and an awesome pirate transmission from Beetee in District 13!  Check it out:

Obviously, WE really love the way they're staying completely in-universe and playing up the propaganda angle. (We ARE Panem Propaganda, after all!) This is exactly what a ruler like Snow would do, right? Put on an opulent show of unity (with armed peacekeepers) while the country burns all around him. It strays slightly from the book by adding Johanna to the propos, but makes it all the more disquieting. Why wouldn't President Snow use everyone at his disposal to sell his false hope to Panem? And *SPOILERS* the pristine blonde wig, matching Peeta (and looking a little Aryan nation, eww) covering up what we know is her shaved head.

And what can we say about the perfect "pirate transmission from District 13" but THE MOCKINGJAY LIVES!! Go Beetee!

Wonder if we'll get another addition to President Snow's little puppet gallery in the next trailer? Will there be teasers for Unity, Prosperity and Sacrifice, the tagline from the first Panem address? What if Annie and Enobaria are added in the next two?

Let us know what you thought of "Unity" in the comments!

'Mockingjay Part 1' Teaser Trailer #2 Likely This Week

We could have a new Mockingjay teaser trailer by Thursday, tributes!!

Our friends at Quarter Quell say a 59 second long NEW teaser will be in US cinemas this week, to be shown with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes starting with Thursday previews. Hopefully, that means we'll see it online on CapitolTV (and The Hunger Games official YouTube channel) before the debut in theaters on Thursday.

This hasn't been confirmed by Lionsgate so please be advised. AND be sure to check with your local theater before heading out. Some theaters opted not to show the first Mockingjay teaser as expected before Transformers: Age of Extinction and many tributes were very disappointed.

Read the details at QuarterQuell.org.

Lionsgate To Launch Interactive "The Hunger Games: The Exhibition" In Summer 2015

Lionsgate will launch a U.S. tour of “The Hunger Games: The Exhibition” in summer 2015, it was announced today by Lionsgate Chief Marketing Officer Tim Palen. The state-of-the-art exhibition, which will include interactive displays of authentic costumes, props and other elements of the world of The Hunger Games, will be designed in conjunction with Thinkwell Group, one of the world’s leading theme park and location-based entertainment companies. (Thinkwell are the people behind The Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour outside London, which is pretty impressive if you haven't seen it.)

“The Hunger Games: The Exhibition” will launch several months ahead of the November 20, 2015 worldwide release of the fourth Hunger Games film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, and will incorporate artifacts featured in the first three films from locations within the Capitol and the various Districts of Panem. The exhibition will be featured in major museums and institutions across the country and will be supported by a multimedia promotional effort and nationwide advance ticket sales.

“Now that we’ve built a critical mass of intellectual property, we’re committed to extending our brands into exciting new businesses that create opportunities for our fans to engage with our properties at the same time they deliver significant incremental financial benefits to Lionsgate,” said Palen. “We’re thrilled to launch this initiative with the U.S. tour of The Hunger Games exhibition, which celebrates the world of The Hunger Games and offers Hunger Games fans an extensive behind-the-scenes look at the movie-making process.” He noted that the exhibits will also be paired with local school curricula, and nearly all aspects of the tour will be interactive.

Palen also announced that, as part of the studio’s commitment to expand its branded retail and merchandising operations, it has brought veteran Thinkwell executive Jenefer Brown in-house, naming her to the newly created post of Senior Vice President, Branded Attractions. Brown will not only oversee the launch of the U.S. tour of The Hunger Games exhibition but will explore additional theme park attraction and other location-based entertainment opportunities around the world for The Hunger Games franchise and the Company’s entire portfolio of branded properties.

Jennifer, Francis, Josh & Liam thanks to http://staywithmealwayslove.tumblr.com/We're hearing a lot about the Mockingjay party at Cannes from those who attended the Lionsgate soiree on Saturday night.

The hot ticket at the Cannes Film Festival was the Saturday night “Hunger Games” party hosted by Lionsgate that was such an extravaganza it would have made Jay Gatsby jealous.

The property, located on the Mediterranean Sea, was prominently decorated with “Hunger Games” posters and logos, not to mention a staff in goth costumes from the film.

“This party is like the Capitol at its worst,” quipped Jennifer Lawrence. She spent most of the night in a VIP area with her co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, dancing and lip syncing to tunes from Missy Elliot and Whitney Houston.

Producer Nina Jacobson, who optioned the rights to the books from author Suzanne Collins, said the cast had just arrived from a month in Paris, where they had been concurrently filming Mockingjay: Parts 1 and 2.
