President Snow Addresses Panem (aka the 'Mockingjay' Teaser Trailer)

Panem Today. Panem Tomorrow. Panem Forever. Check out the loooong awaited Mockingjay Part 1 teaser trailer! A stark white set and a very serious Donald Sutherland as President Snow addresses Panem on Capitol TV. And look who's next to The Snowster! Hijacked Peeta! Well, maybe not quite hijacked yet, but Josh Hutcherson as Peeta looking more than a little lost, eluding to much of what's been going on since we left the arena in Catching Fire. Who didn't LOSE IT when Peeta looks into the camera on the last beat?

We adore that Lionsgate is going full in-universe propaganda on this teaser and we can't wait to see what they have in store for the rest of the campaign. Yay! We LOVE it!

Stanley Tucci Talks 'Mockingjay' and Caesar Flickerman With MTV

Stanley Tucci finished his work on the upcoming two-part Mockingjay a few months ago, only on set for a handful of days before putting the role of flamboyant talk show host Caesar Flickerman to bed for good. He talked with MTV's Josh Horowitz about Mockingjay, the cast, and saying goodbye to Caesar.

“In the last two, he has a bit less to do,” Tucci said. “But it was great nonetheless. They’re great movies.”

Even though his final moments with the character were brief, Tucci cherished the opportunity to sink those pearly-white teeth into Caesar one last time.

“Those are great people, and it’s such a fun character. So much fun,” he said. “I got to know Woody Harrelson, who I adore. Josh and Jennifer, of course. The loveliest people. Lovely people.”

“I was very sad to say goodbye to them,” he continued. “You don’t always feel that way when you finish a movie.”

LISTEN: Josh Hutcherson Talks 'Mockingjay' & His Celebrity Basketball Game on Seacrest

Josh Hutcherson called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to talk about the last two installments of Mockingjay, as well as The Josh Hutcherson Celebrity Basketball Game, which takes place on August 8. This must've been pre-taped because we all know Mockingjay wrapped on Friday.

“Tomorrow is our final wrap day for all the Hunger Games,” explains Josh. “One more day, and it’s a very bittersweet ending.”

And when the wrap celebration happens, he jokes, ”I think people are going to party pretty hard. They’ve been shooting this for nine months now … we started in October last year.”

As for Josh’s Celebrity Basketball Game, the 5’7″ actor — who plays for his gay-straight alliance, Straight But Not Narrow – explained how he makes it to the hoop. “It’s a low center of gravity thing, I just make it work. You’ve got to be quick … It’s the third year we’ve done this event. And it’s getting bigger and bigger every year. And so much fun every time.”

Tickets for The Josh Hutcherson Celebrity Basketball Game go on sale today at 10 a.m. at Nike3On3.com.

And did you notice how he avoided confirming that hiccup story?

The Capitol PN Relaunches With District Heroes Propaganda

TODAY WE CELEBRATE THE PROUD MEN AND WOMEN WHO LIVE AND BREATHE THEIR DISTRICTS. TODAY WE ARE ONE PANEM

We've been waiting to find out what was going to happen at The Capitol.PN since that hypnotizing spinning Capitol symbol first appeared there last Friday. Today, TheCapitol.PN relaunched with a bang - and some incredibly well-done Mockingjay propaganda District Heroes posters.

Our initial thoughts of, "Where are the pictures of the cast?" were quickly replaced once we looked a little deeper into the campaign. Isn't this just what The Capitol would do? Use propaganda during a rebellion to try to unify the country? And use (probably) Capitol citizens to stand in for the people of the districts - including District 12- which fans would understand, didn't exist at the end of Catching Fire

We're excited that this might be just the start of a larger Capitol propaganda campaign that might end with some rebel hacks, some beautiful posters of our cast and, at least by Comic Con, a trailer. If the district heroes look this good, imagine Peeta in Capitol propaganda.

Bring it on!

Be sure to read more about each District Hero at TheCapitol.PN and sign up for updates from CapitolTV. See the full size pics in our Gallery.

The official announcement:

TOMORROW: Join The Capitol in its appreciation for the steadfast and industrious people of this #OnePanem

And so it begins.... Hopefully this kicks off a bunch of new and consistent Mockingjay marketing. Seems like maybe character posters to us. Wouldn't it be amazing if it was a propo hacked by the rebels? Whatever it is, we are STOKED! Come fangirl and fanboy with us tomorrow on twitter, facebook, tumblr and pinterest

Jena Malone on 'Mockingjay' - "It's Kind of Like Waiting for Christmas"

Jena Malone and Lem Jay Ignacio spoke with City News Toronto about their musical inspirations for their two person band, The Shoe, ahead of their performances in the city today. Jena also talked about how it feels to be part of Mockingjay, which is obviously going to be one of the biggest movies of the year:

It's beautiful to work on something that you know people already support and love so it's kind of just like, you know, waiting for Christmas. Like you already know that you got everyone the best present ever, and you're just, like, waiting for them to unwrap it. So, it's just exciting.

The Shoe performed on Breakfast Television this morning (see video below) and in Trinity Square park in Toronto today for the North By Northeast Festival. They'll also be doing a show for their Thompson Takeover tour tomorrow night, June 17th at 8:30pm in the lobby of the Thompson Toronto.

Francis Lawrence Says 'Mockingjay' Will Wrap in 5 Days

Francis Lawrence announced via twitter that Mockingjay will wrap in 5 days. FIVE DAYS!! We are assuming that he means 5 business days and that they'll wrap on Friday, June 20th, but that's just a guess. Jeffrey Wright and producer Nina Jacobson chimed in about wrapping as well. And Jeffrey also tweeted about saying farewell to his character, Beetee.

Judging from YOUR reactions to this news on twitter, facebook and tumblr, we need a fandom group hug. Or a trailer, how about a trailer? That will fix us right up.

New 'Mockingjay' Set Photos From Berlin Featuring Josh Hutcherson

There's a small batch of new Mockingjay set photos from Berlin today featuring Josh Hutcherson arriving on set and having lunch. Wes Chatham and Natalie Dormer (or her double - hard to confirm) are in another. They're pretty tabloidy, so apologies to those who hate that sort of thing. They're filming at the International Congress Center in Berlin and fans are saying that security is VERY tight there.

It's a news drought, kids, you have no idea how excited we are to see Josh having lunch. And exiting his car. Yep, we need some Mockingjay stills, promo, trailer, anything.

Jena Malone Says She "Finished Shooting Everything 2 Weeks Ago" for 'Mockingjay'

On June 3, Jena Malone's band The Shoe will release I’m OK — its first full-length album since forming in 2008 (pre-orders are available here).

Refinery29 talked to Jena and her musical soulmate Lem Jay Ignacio at Ignacio’s garage studio in Los Angeles, where the album was recorded. Besides talking about the band and the upcoming record, they touched on The Hunger Games (of course) as Jena plays Johanna Mason in Catching Fire and the upcoming Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2. Jena let it slip that she's finished shooting her part in the films (!!!) and talked about the types of roles she's drawn to and inspiring teenagers, "I feel like they are the true revolutionaries. We should be doing everything for them."

From Refinery29:

Speaking of your other job, have you finished shooting everything for the next Hunger Games?
JM: "I just finished shooting everything two weeks ago. It’s crazy. I don’t even know if I’m allowed to say that. We are finishing in June. But, they are so secretive. It is so crazy. We will wrap and then never play these characters ever again. I’m a little sad about it."

LJ: "She was really sad. She was like, 'I’m never going to do the character again!'"

JM: "It is kind of a strange thing, I don’t know. I’m hoping that I found all of the pieces. I’ve never carried a character for two and a half to three years before."

What do you think your appeal is to broken but badass chicks?
JM: "I have played a lot of them. I might have represented a part of their heart on film, at different times in my life. When I was younger, I was really more drawn to those types of characters. I wanted some real meat in a role; I didn’t want to play the girlfriend or the daughter. I want to be challenging myself. But, the older I get, the more I want to just create things for teenagers. I want to inspire them and knock them down. I want them to skin their knees and then I want to lift them up. I feel like they are the true revolutionaries. We should be doing everything for them."

Teenagers really relate to characters like that. They connect to the underdog or the badass.
JM: "The way that they have latched on to Katniss Everdeen [and] the whole Hunger Games. Who doesn’t want to be that woman? There is no self there. It isn’t self-centered. It isn’t about her being pretty or using her sexuality. It is all about her using her strength. She sacrifices herself for love. It is amazing that 13-year-old girls are looking at that and saying, 'She is my hero.'"

As opposed to Disney princesses.
JM: "As opposed to Alicia Silverstone in Clueless in 1995. Things are now on a completely different spectrum. I think that we tapped into a collective consciousness kind of thing; young men and women who want to be treated more like adults and the way that they view films and how they are portrayed in films."

Jeffrey Wright's Live Web Chat With L.A. Times

Jeffrey Wright did a live web chat with L.A. Times' Glenn Whipp today, and he spoke to us from his trailer on the Mockingjay set at Tempelhof Airport in Berlin. Jeffrey says he's finished shooting all of his scenes from Mockingjay Part 1 and is on to Mockingjay Part 2 and that they have "a little over a month" left of shooting.

Jeffrey starts talking about Mockingjay at about 13:47.

Wright said that, "people have a more personal relationship with this material" than any other project that he's done. He shared, "In Mockingjay, this world, this society, that's been created by these books is now completely undone. It's now set ablaze."

On Jennifer Lawrence: "This is a wonderful cast led by Jennifer Lawrence. And fortunately she is just, beyond being an intensely interesting actor, she's a riot and one of the funniest people you ever hope to meet."

On Beetee: "He has a sense of clarity about his response to this unjust society and the oppression of the Capitol. There's a sensitivity about him that conflicts with the brutality of his work."

Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth + Cast Spotted in Berlin

The paparazzi has found them already! Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth were both spotted outside Soho House Hotel in Berlin yesterday. The cast is in Germany to complete work on Mockingjay.

And after being spotted in Madrid several times yesterday, Josh Hutcherson showed up in a fan pic this morning that was hashtagged #Berlin. It looks like it could be in the airport. But we don't have confirmation that this is ACTUALLY in Berlin so, for now, just enjoy a photo of Josh in a unconfirmed location!

Photo thanks to Fernando Garcia

German fans @xshipper (Marina) and @AniX1013 have been posting some great fan pics of the rest of the cast to their twitter accounts. Looks like they've met almost the entire cast! Follow them on twitter for more pics.

It's also been reported by a German website that Liam Hemsworth suffered a minor injury on the Mockingjay set yesterday and was brought to a local hospital. Reportedly filming wasn't interrupted so hopefully Liam is on the mend and back to work!
