More of Josh Hutcherson at TIFF - 'Escobar: Paradise Lost' Premiere, Jennifer Lawrence + His Last Mockingjay Scene

Josh Hutcherson walked the red carpet at the world premiere of his film Escobar: Paradise Lost at the Toronto Film Festival last night.

Photographer Jeff Vespa took a gorgeous black and white portrait of Josh at TIFF and posted it to his instagram. (He also took one of Sam Claflin HERE.)

Josh also spoke with The Daily Observer while promoting the film and, of course, talk turned to Jennifer Lawrence and The Hunger Games films.

“My reaction was anger, initially, and truly disappointment in society as a whole,” Hutcherson said of the nude photo hack over the Labour Day weekend, which resulted in the theft of hundreds of images from dozens of celebrities, most notably his Hunger Games co-star and friend Jennifer Lawrence. “You have a certain public recognition and whatnot. But it’s not about having your private life literally looked into and stolen from you,” he said. “Becoming an actor shouldn’t mean that you have to deal with being stalked.”

Hutcherson knows of what he speaks, thanks to the international stardom that The Hunger Games has propelled him into. He’s already wrapped shooting on Mockingjay – Part II, set to come out next November, but his final scene as Peeta had no dramatic thunder: it was a simple reshoot to get an angle that hadn’t been covered during principal photography.

“It’s me putting Katniss out when she’s on fire. It was literally a camera looking up at me, I had a blanket and I was throwing it at the camera,” he said with a laugh.

“It was definitely a bittersweet moment, but it was one of things where you finish it, and you’re like, ‘That was it. That was the last moment of all these movies.’ It really was anticlimactic!”

He was there the next night for the wrap of the movie, though. “It was not like of a big bang kind of ending. I think everyone was really sad,” he said. “We’d created something really special together for so many years, and the time to say goodbye was tough.”

And though he’s fast friends with Lawrence off set, he hasn’t talked to her yet about the photo hack. Because, appropriately enough, he respects her privacy.

“I didn’t really want to bring it up to her, it’s a personal thing that she’s going through, and if she wants to talk to me, she’ll talk to me about it,” he said. “It’s hard. I feel horrible for it all.”

Special thanks to JoshHutchersonNews.net for the beautiful photos.

Josh Hutcherson Premieres 'Paradise Lost' at TIFF & Talks Jennifer Lawrence & 'The Hunger Games'

Josh Hutcherson premiered his upcoming Escobar: Paradise Lost at TIFF and took part in all the requisite promotional activity including a Q&A, portrait sessions and all kinds of press. Check out some of the photos and video, plus a peek at the newest stills from the film (above).

Benicio del Toro and Josh in a TIFF portrait

Josh also talked to The Daily Beast about the theft of Jennifer Lawrence's personal photos and The Hunger Games movies while at the film festival.

“It’s fucking horrible,” he says. “I haven’t spoken to her [Jennifer Lawrence] since it happened, but as far as the public, Twitter, and media have reacted, it’s awful. We act because it’s what we want to do. I’ve acted since I was 9 years old because it’s my job, it’s what I’m good at, and it’s what I love to do. I don’t wantattention. I don’t want to have my private life looked into or have people think they deserve to know about my private life. And then people say, ‘Well, then you shouldn’t have become an actor. ’Fuck that. I didn’t choose all that. I chose to be an actor. I was 9 years old! Do you think a 9-year-old is thinking about public scandal? I wanted to make movies." He takes a long pause. “It makes you feel like you want to run away from it all and escape to a small island away from everybody.”

On not being typecast after The Hunger Games films:

“We got lucky!” he says. “I think it helps so much that Jennifer is who she is, and has done the work that she’s done. It gives us more credibility that we’re associated with her, since she’s been nominated for multiple Oscars and won one. Also, The Hunger Games didn’t create us. The makers brought all the cast members onto the project and helped create it. I think that’s a big reason why we’re not tied to it in a negative way.”

On wrapping the series:

“We filmed for nine months on the last one, so everyone was so tired that we didn’t have a big bash at the end,” he says. “I think it was because we were sad. Like, Fuck, this is done. We had a wrap party in Berlin and since we were all staying at the Soho House, we went to the rooftop a lot, but nothing major.”

On Philip Seymour Hoffman:

“I only had the privilege of sharing one scene with Hoffman, this ball dance scene in the last one, but I saw him around on set a lot,” he says. “It’s really crazy and shocking what happened. They had pretty much shot all his stuff, so they’re not going to do any weird, CG things to re-create him. They didn’t have to work around too much.”

Our sincere thanks to JoshHutchersonNews.net for the photos!

Elizabeth Banks Says Goodbye to Effie and The Hunger Games: "I Cried My Eyes Out"

Josh Horowitz got to spend a little time with Elizabeth Banks at Tiff while she was promoting her film Love and Mercy and, excellent fanboy that he is, Josh asked about Mockingjay wrapping up for good.

"It's done. I never get to play that role again, it's so sad. I cried my eyes out. I love, love, love Effie so much. I really love her and, yeah, it's over."

Horowitz said he was relieved that we get to see a little bit more of Effie in the last two films than the book would dictate. Banks replied, "They did [write a little bit more of Effie into the films]. I got lucky. It was VERY flattering and fun story for her actually. REALLY fun. To go from The Capitol to District 13 is a shock for anybody. I like how I talk about it like it's real life. (laughs) Anyway, she's there. She's the fish out of water. It's fun."

Sam Claflin On His Awkward Goodbye to 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay'

Sam Claflin has been promoting The Riot Club at the Toronto International Film Festival, but MTV's Josh Horowitz snuck in a couple of questions about The Hunger Games: Mockingjay (and that's why we love ya, Josh!)

“It was bizarre,” Claflin said. “I think I’d said goodbye, and done all my goodbyes, and I remember feeling a little sad and anxious, kind of going, I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself for the rest of my life, I’m never going to work again.”

But Claflin’s fears were put to rest, pretty much immediately.

“After I said the final goodbye, they go, oh actually we need you to come in tomorrow to fill in this pick up,” Claflin said. “So I saw everybody the next day, and then I sort of left, and kind of felt a little weird.”

To add to the awkwardness, Claflin also left a week early, before most of the stars had wrapped on the movie.

“I got out early and avoided the whole heartbreak,” Claflin told us. But he added, “It’s really sad.”

Sam Claflin Makes a Cameo in Norwich Theatre Royal’s Wind in the Willows

Sam Claflin and some of the special guests of Norwich Theatre Royal

Sam Clalfin Photo by Denise Bradley

Sam Claflin and his brother Joe Claflin made cameo appearances in Norwich Theatre Royal’s Youth Theater Company production of Wind in the Willows last weekend. Sam and Joe are both alumni of the Norwich Theater Royal’s Theater Arts Course and were cast members of Wind in The Willows as students back in 2005. They resumed their roles to celebrate director David Lambert’s 25th show.

Great Yarmouth Mercury spoke with Sam about the experience:

Nowadays he’s more used to working on Hollywood film sets with some of cinema’s biggest names, but this week film star Sam Claflin is returning to his roots and taking to the stage at Norwich Theatre Royal.

The former Costessey High School pupil is one of a number of the theatre’s arts course alumni who have returned to mark director David Lambert’s 25th show milestone by appearing alongside current students in the show The Wind in the Willows.

Sam – known for films such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – actually played Ratty in the youth theatre company’s 2005 production of the riverside tale, and last night he played the older version of the character.

“It’s very nostalgic treading these boards again, without the arts course I wouldn’t be even half way to where I am now. It embraced me as a thespian and made me who I am I guess... I’m very thankful and happy to be back to celebrate,” said Sam.

About the 2005 Wind in the Willows show, he added: “It feels so long ago but at the same time it feels like only yesterday.

“It’s all been such an incredible journey from here to where I am, so it’s nice to be back... I know that I had the most fun on this stage.”

He said it was great to be a part of the on-stage reunion and to celebrate Mr Lambert’s landmark anniversary, and that it was brilliant to perform alongside his brother Joe, also a professional actor, who last night played the character of older Mole.

“It’s the first time Joe and I have acted together since we did the Sinbad the Sailor here which was 2006,” said Sam, who in 2003 also played the title role in the youth theatre company’s production of Robinson Crusoe.

Fellow alumni who joined Sam and Joe on stage last night were Daniel Burgess, who played older Toad, and Lisa Ellis, who played Mrs Otter.

Jennifer Lawrence at the Dior Haute Couture Fashion Show in Paris

Jennifer Lawrence was front row at the Dior Haute Couture Autumn/Winter presentation in Paris today, held in the gardens of the Musee Rodin. Jen was spotted having a little fun with Emma Watson - yes, we fangirled! Women's Wear Daily reported that the two of them nearly missed the whole thing:

Due to a power failure on the Eurostar, Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson only just made it to the second show, held for clients. But Lawrence, who snapped pictures on her smartphone, had only one regret. “We should have shot some selfies,” she said backstage after the show, enthusing about the elaborate floral arrangements.

The Oscar-winning actress has become somewhat of a regular in the French capital. Last month she was shooting “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2” in the less-than-ritzy suburbs of Paris, and is now back in town for couture. Does she feel like she has gone from one extreme to the other? “Yes, and I feel like I still don’t know Paris,” she said with a laugh.

Jen and Dior designer Raf Simons backstage

As you probably know, Jennifer is the face of Miss Dior handbags, and the perks (or requirements?) of the gig include jet-setting to couture shows and fabulous private dinners. Jen went to the private Dior dinner in Paris after the show.

Stanley Tucci Talks 'Mockingjay' and Caesar Flickerman With MTV

Stanley Tucci finished his work on the upcoming two-part Mockingjay a few months ago, only on set for a handful of days before putting the role of flamboyant talk show host Caesar Flickerman to bed for good. He talked with MTV's Josh Horowitz about Mockingjay, the cast, and saying goodbye to Caesar.

“In the last two, he has a bit less to do,” Tucci said. “But it was great nonetheless. They’re great movies.”

Even though his final moments with the character were brief, Tucci cherished the opportunity to sink those pearly-white teeth into Caesar one last time.

“Those are great people, and it’s such a fun character. So much fun,” he said. “I got to know Woody Harrelson, who I adore. Josh and Jennifer, of course. The loveliest people. Lovely people.”

“I was very sad to say goodbye to them,” he continued. “You don’t always feel that way when you finish a movie.”

Jena Malone on 'Mockingjay' - "It's Kind of Like Waiting for Christmas"

Jena Malone and Lem Jay Ignacio spoke with City News Toronto about their musical inspirations for their two person band, The Shoe, ahead of their performances in the city today. Jena also talked about how it feels to be part of Mockingjay, which is obviously going to be one of the biggest movies of the year:

It's beautiful to work on something that you know people already support and love so it's kind of just like, you know, waiting for Christmas. Like you already know that you got everyone the best present ever, and you're just, like, waiting for them to unwrap it. So, it's just exciting.

The Shoe performed on Breakfast Television this morning (see video below) and in Trinity Square park in Toronto today for the North By Northeast Festival. They'll also be doing a show for their Thompson Takeover tour tomorrow night, June 17th at 8:30pm in the lobby of the Thompson Toronto.
