Josh Hutcherson on why he identifies with Peeta

Yahoo has published an excerpt of Josh Hutcherson's interview with Glamour magazine, from the November 2013 issue:

He's acted in almost 40 films, but before last year you probably only knew Josh Hutcherson, 20, from his role as the son of a lesbian couple in 2010's The Kids Are All Right. It wasn't until getting cast as Peeta Mellark in The HungerGames--one third of the Katniss-Gale-Peeta love triangle--that he became paparazzi-stalked and face-on-a-T-shirt famous. As he and the rest of the world gear up for November's release of the trilogy's second film, Catching Fire, the Kentucky native (who is, honestly, the nicest) talked to Glamour about costars, chemistry, and dating in Hollywood.

Josh Hutcherson in Glamour's November Issue

Josh Hutcherson makes an appearance, and talks Catching Fire, in the November issue of Glamour magazine. Check out his interview thanks to our friends at Josh Hutcherson News:

GLAMOUR: What was it like being back on set with everyone?

JOSH HUTCHERSON: Jennifer [Lawrence] and I were nervous about our new costars because we’re kind of crazy when we’re together, so it can be a little scary for the new people. But everybody jumped right in. It was a fun vibe on set.

GLAMOUR: You and Jennifer are friends in real life. Is it weird having to switch to a romantic relationship on-screen?

JOSH HUTCHERSON: It is. There are times when we’ve had to cut because we can’t get through a take without laughing.

GLAMOUR: So would you say it’s possible to be “just friends” with a woman?

JOSH HUTCHERSON: Absolutely, but there’s often a natural inclination to want more.

GLAMOUR: What are your feelings about dating costars? You met your girlfriend [actress Claudia Traisac] while filming the upcoming thriller Paradise Lost.

JOSH HUTCHERSON: As far as I’m concerned, you’re both actors, you understand each other’s lifestyle, so it’s a very natural thing to have happen.

GLAMOUR: Tell us, what is the most epic date that you’ve ever orchestrated?

JOSH HUTCHERSON: The girls I’ve dated hate me a little because I can’t remember anything about first dates or when we kissed. I have the worst memory in the world!

GLAMOUR: Your memory is used up from memorizing lines.

JOSH HUTCHERSON: That’s a good excuse. I think I’ll start using that!

GLAMOUR: We have to ask: Team Gale or Team Peeta?

JOSH HUTCHERSON: I’m definitely Team Peeta! But Katniss’s dilemma is very real—it’s hard to know who to choose when you admire two people who are so different. The love triangle gets played up a lot more in Catching Fire.

GLAMOUR: You’ve said you really identify with Peeta. Why?

JOSH HUTCHERSON: Katniss is an “I’ll just shoot somebody with an arrow” person, and Peeta is a “Let’s talk this through” kind of guy. I have his mind-set.

GLAMOUR: How do you handle the pressures of fame?

JOSH HUTCHERSON: I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it. I have two-pointsomething million followers on Twitter, and if I say something, they all listen. It’s crazy! I shouldn’t be allowed that responsibility.

Josh Hutcherson Talks Catching Fire With Ryan Seacrest

Josh Hutcherson called in to "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" this morning and one of the first things they discussed was Catching Fire!

"I think on this movie the story kind of opens up a lot. There's a lot more interesting plots that start to develop and thicken. We up the overall feel of the movie. We came the same idea of the first with, like, the overall world but just kind of bumped it up a little and made it more immersive. We stayed true to the book, as always, the characters are all fantastic. We got some amazing actors to come in - Phillip Seymour Hoffman, you know it was pretty incredible to work with all these guys."

Seacrest asked, "Fans want to know about this Katniss and Peeta relationship. Does it develop in a way that's going to have me on the edge of my fabric seat in the theater?"

"Absolutely!Absolutely! I can't divulge any kind of plot details but it's up and down. Katniss and Peeta's relationship is very complicated. It has a lot of little things that have to be worked out. It's good. People will be very, very satisfied with it and that's all I'm going to say about the relationship."

He wouldn't admit if they kissed but admited that when he kisses actresses professionaly there is a "natural stirring." Who just died

Josh also talked about his charity basketball tournament benefitting Straight But Not Narrow and a contest he's running to for two winners attend the tournament, hang with him, AND film a PSA for SBNN with him.
