The Hollywood Reporter says that Catching Fire will get a Dolby Atmos sound mix, meaning the movie will be released in an immersive new sound format. Barco recently announced that Catching Fire would be mixed for its Auro 11.1 sound system. Dolby Atmos is available at select theatres.

According to Dolby's website, Dolby® Atmos™ delivers audiences a more natural and realistic soundfield, transporting them into the story with a lifelike sensory experience. Developed with input from professionals throughout the movie industry, Dolby Atmos represents a dynamic shift in audio, reinventing the traditional surround sound methodology and offering a complete platform for sound now and well into the future. For filmmakers, details matter—a lot. And Dolby Atmos gives filmmakers full creative control over the placement and movement of sound around the audience. This completely new level of artistic freedom enables precise matching of audio to onscreen action. Atmos employs up to 64 speakers to heighten the realism and impact of every scene.

Sounds like you might want to find a Dolby Atmos Theater when it's time to see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
